Canadian
SAmple BANK

Thousands of pounds of sample materials are shipped internationally to Canadian designers and architects each year, only to be used for a short time and ultimately sent to our landfills. We work with clients such as carpet manufacturers to maintain and organically build a sample library with our easy-to-use return label system.

Greenhouse
Gas
Reduction

The program's continued operation offers Canadian architects and designers a national hub that shortens the travel distance of each sample request delivery by at least 2400km’s*.

Waste Reduction & Diversion

Our Sample Bank service has diverted over 47,000lbs of carpet samples from ending up in Canadian landfills since its creation in 2019.

Circular Economy Solution

This circular solution extends the life and use of these resources to their highest and best use through re-use, repurposing, and recycling.

Client & Customer Satisfaction

Our clients save significant shipping costs and achieve their environmental mission while ensuring the same great samples are delivered to their customers.

HOW IT WORKS

  1. Typically, samples are shipped to designers from manufacturers outside of Canada.

  2. Once samples like carpet tiles have been received and used by the designer, samples can easily be returned to our Sample Bank instead of thrown into the trash.

  3. When we receive used carpet samples, we inspect them for quality, track landfill diversion data, and neatly file the sample away in our Sample Bank.

  4. Any samples that do not meet customer standards are diverted to the next highest and best use.

  5. As samples continue to be returned to us, our library grows! More and more sample orders are fulfilled directly from the Canadian Sample Bank on behalf of our clients.

The LIttle
LItter Ridders

Viking Recycling is an active member of our community and we believe that environmental engagement, particularly with younger generations, is of utmost importance.

With the aim of providing High School students an opportunity to make a positive impact on the environment and complete their community service hours in a meaningful way, we created the Little Litter Ridders program. This program engages students and helps them to build environmental awareness through the collection of litter and excess waste in their communities.
